Flap feet: a challenge for young and oldJune 2010 – The Abcoude Festival asked Centrizink Wolvega to galvanise holders that will be used for the People and Children's Games organised by the Festival. The Abcoude Festival organises activities for young and old during the annual Festival Week in August, on Queen's Day and for the annual Liberation celebrations. The origins of the Festival Week go right back to 1471 when Abcoude acquired the rights to have its own free horse market on the last Thursday in August. The organisers asked Centrizink Wolvega to galvanise what look like flagpole holders. The holders are used in a new game known as "flap feet". They are mounted on brackets with a stick and a rubber flap. The players stand on the flaps and race round the course by moving the flaps forward step by step. The maximum length of each depth is 40 cm. And of course, there are several participants in the race. This is a game for young and old. It hardly needs pointing out that it requires plenty of agility, and that it's lots of fun for both the participants and the public. Thanks to the enduring contribution made by Centrizink Wolvega, the people of Abcoude can enjoy this new game for many years yet. |
